Sorry. We don’t have any salespeople.

It is one of the things that struck me right from the beginning of my association with MuniSoft. There were no sales people! The company focus was on taking care of clients. In fact, MuniSoft doesn’t even have sales people.

It wasn’t her responsibility.  Actually, she wasn’t even asked to do it.  She was going about her normal support work – helping MuniSoft clients better understand our programs and use them to improve their productivity.

But in the midst of the conversation, she saw an opportunity to go the extra mile.  She could have sold the client an add-on to the application she was using that did exactly what was needed.  “But they didn’t have money,”  she told me, “…and the amount of time the new program would save wouldn’t justify the cost.”

But it was still a task that took time to do manually every month.  “I just thought it would help save them some time if I put together a spreadsheet for them.  It wouldn’t be as good as the add-on but it would at least help.”  So she did.  And because she went the second mile, her client saved time and improved the accuracy of her work.

It’s one of things I love about MuniSoft.  The staff here really are focused on looking after clients.  And it’s not just some policy thing that someone wrote down at one of those mission statement seminars.  It really is a company characteristic and seems to be pretty consistent throughout the MuniSoft staff.

And it works.  By focusing on looking after clients, word has spread.  Over 700 municipal offices have switched to MuniSoft – primarily by word of mouth!
